Welcome to the Wind Power Survey for
Bristol and Portsmouth, Rhode Island

Between May 15 and June 6 2006, a random sample of Portsmouth and Bristol registered voters participated in a statistical survey identical in design to this Web survey.

This web version of the Wind Power Survey enables you to also express your opinion:

The purpose of the Wind Power Survey is:

To find what information is important to you for deciding whether to support wind energy in Rhode Island. To accomplish this, you will see a slide show with published information offering you a chance to give your opinion;
To ask you what specific places you would prefer to see wind turbines in Bristol and Portsmouth. To accomplish this you will see photographic simulations giving you an opportunity to express your preferences and the reasons for your support or opposition.

Additional photographic simulations from Barrington, Kingston, Middletown, Narragansett, Warren, and Westerly and other Rhode Island towns will be eventually added to this survey to make it possible for residents from these towns to express their opinion.

Participating in the Wind Power Survey is as easy as 1-2-3 !
1) Optional step: we strongly recommend that you download free programs to listen to the voice narration of the survey rather than reading it:

a. Download PureVoice.
To make listening to the survey possible please click on the icon above, to download for free and install PureVoice. The Narration may also be read, so even without sound you can participate fully. To find our whether you can now listen the voice narration, check out test page. Though optional, you may wish to install these free programs in order to listen to narration in the survey and view reference material. The Narration may also be read, so even those without sound can fully participate.

b. Download Internet Explorer.
If you still do not hear sound after downloading PureVoice, you may have an older version of the Internet Explorer or Netscape browsers. By clicking on the icon above, you can download and install the latest version of Internet Explorer that will enable sound.

c. Download QuickTime.
If sound is still not perfect after downloading Internet Explorer, you may also click on the above icon, to download QuickTime.

2) Register as a Participant
We ask all those who want to participate to register using the form below, by entering email address, first name, last name, and address.
This information will be kept confidential.

Within a week after you register, you will receive an email with a unique link for you to take the survey.

3) Click on the unique web link that will be emailed to you within a week
Once a week, we will email a password and a unique web link to all who registered during the week so they can access the survey.

At the completion of the survey we will provide you with a copy of the survey and the supporting information for downloading.
